NYC Skyline at Sunset, Exchange Place, New Jersey
I made a solo trip to NYC in April of 2024, just for imaging. Some things worked out well, while others did not pan out. This is about one that did. My research informed me that a great place to get images of the city illuminated at sunset was Exchange Place in New Jersey. So, I got on that train at the Oculus and headed out in the afternoon. After exploring and watching the light, I eventually made my way to a rooftop bar full of friendly staff and delightful guests. They had no objection to me setting up a tripod, so I did. Drank beer and waited. Repeated. Froze my a$$ off. Repeated. And eventually was rewarded. Although the sky lacked any interesting clouds, the sunset light was sufficiently hazed to produce a golden glow on the face of a city that is unremittingly defiant.
