If you've ever been to Death Valley, you know what an extraordinary place it is. And if you've been fortunate enough to visit the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racetrack_Playa" target="_blank">Racetrack Playa</a> there, you also know something about the feeling of <em>empty</em>. We visited on a crisp, achingly blue winter day, when the afternoon sun was brilliant and illuminated all the moving rock tracks. This piece, titled Sundial With Minute Hand, is the first of a series. I thought for certain this series would be monochromatic. Now I am not so sure.
